Letterboxing in Lyme territory

One of my children has been diagnosed with Lyme
disease. I obviously need to do a better job at checking for
ticks. I'm wondering what precautions other letterboxers take, especially
those in New England and other Lyme infected areas. Long, light colored pants tucked into socks, and checking for
ticks afterwards was what I had been doing.
We letterbox primarily in central CT, and at this point I
don't feel comfortable going into the woods to letterbox unless I step up our
tick prevention. I'd like to know what others do.
Thanks!
Linda in Marlborough, CT

Linda & Jeff For some tick prevention you
can spray on a flea & tick spray for dogs on clothing. Make sure you use it
only on clothing !!! Usually it takes some time for the tick to pass along
the bugs once they attach. FYI there are some other diseases you can get from
ticks. We lost one of our dogs to Erlichtosis it is becoming more and more
prevalent in some areas and it is harder to diagnose than Lyme. In any case try
the flea & tick spray. Don
